**Job Summary:**

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled Financial Clearance Representative to support our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

As a Financial Clearance Representative, you will be responsible for independently completing pre-registration and financial clearance activities for MedStar Washington patients. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Complete pre-registration activities and document results in the registration system for scheduled patients, including contacting patients to obtain and verify demographic and insurance information, communicate outstanding liability, and relay necessary pre-arrival instructions.
  • Utilize customer service skills to communicate with patients, insurance companies, employers, or third-party payors to secure demographic and financial data necessary for accurate and complete demographic and financial information.
  • Review and update demographic/insurance information and accounts status to ensure accounts meet payer requirements/times for billing and payment. Ensure data quality standards are met through quality monitoring and report reviews.
  • Educate patients and family members on insurance coverage and requirements, available resources, and hospital billing processes to ensure that patient's financial commitment to the institution is met.

**Requirements:**

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 to 3 years related experience.
  • Medicare Regulation Certification within 1 year.

**Compensation:** The hiring range for this position is $37,244.
