Collections Curator

The J. Paul Getty Trust, The seeks a seasoned Collections Curator for its esteemed Paintings department. Located in one of the world's most renowned art institutions, this position offers an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Art Historian to join a talented team of curators, conservators, and educators.
As a Collections Curator, you will be responsible for curating and developing the museum's collection of European paintings, focusing on Italian, French, Spanish, and British art from before 1800. Your expertise will be invaluable in shaping the collection's direction, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to the museum's mission of public engagement and outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curatorial Leadership: Develop and implement curatorial strategies to enhance the collection's significance, relevance, and impact.
- Art Historical Research: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of artworks, artists, and art historical periods to inform curatorial decisions and exhibitions.
- Collection Management: Collaborate with colleagues to manage the collection's growth, conservation, and accessibility.
- Exhibition Planning: Contribute to the development of temporary exhibitions, including concept development, content creation, and installation design.
- Public Engagement: Design and implement engaging programs, including lectures, workshops, and digital content, to foster public understanding and appreciation of European art.
Qualifications:
- M.A. or Ph.D. in Art History or a related field
- Proven expertise in European art, with a specialization in Italian, French, Spanish, or British art from before 1800
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
The J. Paul Getty Trust, The offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, and paid vacation and holidays.
