We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our Call Center team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing patient records, and performing various administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Answer and screen telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner, recording messages for physicians and other personnel.
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures according to established policies and procedures.
- Obtain accurate information from patients, ensure all registration forms are complete, and collect patient and insurance payments.
- Copy patient information and forward to requesting parties after receiving appropriate consent to release medical records.
- Welcome and greet patients and visitors, assisting and directing them appropriately while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned, including respecting and promoting patient rights, responding appropriately to emergency codes, and sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with database entry and applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Considerable skill in communicating verbally, determining priorities, and organizing work.
- General working knowledge of PC.
- Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers, and physicians.
- Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
