Pharmacy Technician

About the Role
The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy.
- Receive, inspect, store, and fill orders for pharmaceutical supplies.
- Prepare unit dose medications, compounds, and intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepare or repackage drugs and pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
- Record billing information for accurate and appropriate billing of patients for medications.
- Maintain drug and pharmaceutical stock levels by counting and checking stores of drugs and pharmaceuticals against standard, pre-set stock levels.
- Deliver, retrieve, and exchange medications and pharmaceutical items to and from specified areas.
- Provide information to patients, public, and other healthcare providers within the scope of Technician activities.
- Orient and train new personnel, pharmacy students, or others on departmental policies and procedures.
- Use, maintain, and troubleshoot automated dispensing equipment or relevant pharmacy-related software and other equipment necessary for pharmacy operations.
- Accurately prepare, dispense, and document controlled substance orders, and maintain accurate inventory records.
Requirements
- One (1) year of experience (in the last 5 years) assisting in the preparation of drug and pharmaceutical items in a licensed pharmacy.
- Possession of a valid Pharmacy Technician License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
