Pharmacy Technician Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the University of California San Francisco. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the dispensing and distribution of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications
  • Perform various tasks related to traditional pharmacy prescription dispensing and medication distribution
  • Participate in the computer entries of medications and prescriptions
  • Work effectively with a large, diverse population, including maintaining good relationships between pharmacy and nursing units
  • Use good judgment in responding to or referring questions from nurses, physicians, and other professional personnel

Requirements:

  • Valid Pharmacy Technician License through the California State Board of Pharmacy and in good standing
  • Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience and skills in a hospital/medical center pharmacy and/or in a retail/community pharmacy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work under constant pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification; CPhT
  • Hospital setting Inpatient Pharmacy/I.V. additives experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
