About the Role

Catalist, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Software Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our technology department, you will be responsible for managing a team of developers and overseeing the design, implementation, and support of our software tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Lead a team of developers and provide guidance on project scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Project Planning: Generate development plans from available acceptance criteria, project guidelines, and other supporting materials.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with stakeholders on key issues as needed.
  • Technical Guidance: Mentor junior developers, provide technical guidance, and assist in their professional development.
  • Technology Strategy: Work with the Director of Software Engineering to guide the direction of Catalist's technology plans.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's of science degree or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Broad understanding of the technology landscape, including SQL, Java, Bash, and Python.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, as well as excellent project management skills.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Cloud Computing: Familiarity with Hadoop/Spark, Scala, and Cloud Databases (Redshift or BigQuery).
  • Political Environment Experience: Experience in political environments with hard deadlines.
