About the Role

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards
  • Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
Requirements
  • Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire)
  • Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
