Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures and collaborating with staff radiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Complete timely quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance
Requirements
  • Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire)
  • Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of Sonographer experience
Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands of this role include exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.
