**Position Overview**

This role involves providing comprehensive advising and case management services to adult learners aiming to achieve a high school equivalency diploma and enhance their foundational education skills. The position includes facilitating the registration process and assisting in the selection of suitable class placements, career pathways, and options for post-secondary education. Additionally, this role is responsible for maintaining confidential student records and case files, while supporting the Adult Education & Workforce Preparation Program by offering guidance on available resources to aid students in their transition to the workforce or further education and training. Compliance with all relevant processes and procedures established by the institution, as well as state and federal regulations, is essential. This position requires effective data management as dictated by institutional and labor department standards. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is necessary.

**Staff Duration**: Full Time, 12 months

**Compensation**: The salary range for this position is as indicated. For newly appointed individuals, the starting salary will typically be at the minimum of the range, taking into account the experience and qualifications relevant to the role.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. Provide tailored advice to students regarding appropriate class placements, goal setting, and assessments; ensure compliance with guidelines for students with special needs by offering support services that address individual learning barriers.

2. Deliver holistic advising to students, guiding them throughout their educational journey; assist in exploring options, establishing goals, and formulating plans to achieve desired outcomes; maintain proactive communication with students during all phases of their experience.

3. Safeguard confidential class and student records for the institution, ensuring their security; assist with student registration and career readiness initiatives.

4. Document case notes for students requiring structured case management; maintain communication with various human service agencies and refer students to appropriate community resources.

5. Collect, input, and analyze literacy data for the program, including student registrations and progress reports; prepare and submit reports on student recruitment and retention; collaborate with instructors to assess student progress and fulfill post-test requirements.

6. Facilitate student orientation sessions for all Basic Skills programs; engage in the delivery of instructor and professional development training as necessary; participate in seminars, committees, and training sessions to stay informed about policy changes and their implications for local programs.

7. Conduct semester closeout activities, including tabulating student contact hours and finalizing class grades; monitor and evaluate instructional time recorded on class rosters; perform internal audits of class files to ensure completeness and accuracy.

8. Contribute to the development and implementation of retention strategies and reporting.

9. Connect students with relevant support services, including advising and wrap-around services such as case management, childcare, transportation assistance, life skills training, and employment support for Adult Education/English Language Acquisition students.

10. Undertake other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

1. Bachelor's Degree required.

2. Minimum of two years of relevant experience in student services, teaching, or counseling within an educational setting, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and student service skills.

3. Proven ability to serve as a team or project leader and assist in supervising others.

4. Experience in preparing and delivering workshops and presentations to adult learners, both in-person and virtually.

5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to create standard documents and reports, along with prior database experience.

6. Flexibility to meet work schedule requirements, including evening and weekend hours as needed.
