Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to join our team at Marand Builders Inc. This role is a crucial part of our commercial construction projects, and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in the healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets, write contracts, approve invoices, and update project schedules.
  • Coordinate among subcontractors and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the job.
  • Organize, process, and distribute pertinent project documents.
  • Create project schedules and expedite document and material deliveries to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain cost control data and prepare cost reports.
  • Maintain mutually satisfying long-term relationships with customers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and employees.
  • Develop short interval schedules for use at weekly coordination meetings.
  • Conduct implementation and tracking of LEED requirements.
  • Administer document control for shop drawings, submittals, subcontracts/purchase orders, insurance certificates/bonds, R.F.I.'s, plans and specifications, warranties/as-built, and manuals.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals to verify compliance with contract documents.
  • Complete subcontractor payment/vendor invoice processing.
  • Attend project-related meetings and assist with the preparation and dissemination of minutes and attendee's roster.
  • Write weekly reports with notes from the superintendent.
  • Manage close-out procedures and activities.
  • Ensure that safety rules and regulations are being carried out at project sites.

Requirements

  • Leadership: The individual must have the ability to supervise and lead the team.
  • Organization: The individual should be able to schedule and supervise multi-tasking work of a multi-member team.
  • Experience: The individual should have required and proven knowledge in commercial building and construction and related sectors.
  • Problem-Solving: The individual should have and demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: The individual should possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills not only with team members but also with the Project Management and the Customer.
  • Computer Skills: The individual needs to be computer literate and should have basic computer knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook software.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with technology.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Should have strong communication skills that allow him/her to interact comfortably with everyone from project owners to tradesmen.
  • Must have a basic understanding of the construction process, including materials, equipment, and techniques.
  • 3-5 years minimum of project management experience.
  • Travel is a requirement of this job. Travel can be up to 30%.
  • Salary determined by experience.

Work Environment

The job is performed indoors in a variety of settings, including the office, interior building job sites, and job sites outside. While performing the duties of this job on a construction job site, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles (before the use of air scrubbers); outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee may potentially run the risk of being exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and vest) and safety gear (including appropriate clothing, shoes, and gloves) are required on job sites.
