Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Specialist to join our team at the University of Houston's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). As a key member of our department, you will provide exceptional administrative support to our patients, staff, and faculty, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to patients, including scheduling appointments, completing required documentation, and relaying pertinent information.
  • Answer questions and resolve complex customer service concerns in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Accurately verify and enter/update patient demographics, service eligibility, and payment information.
  • Assist patients with check-in and check-out processes, including accurately inputting data, posting charges and payments/co-payments, and searching/retrieving data.
  • Monitor patient services mailbox for voice mails and email inquiries, and respond in a timely and professional manner.
  • Act as a representative of the Student Health Center at campus events, promoting our services and providing information to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and payment requirements for each visit, and ensure compliance with all applicable CAPS and University of Houston policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of directly job-related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a strong focus on providing a positive patient experience.
