Position Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist, under the supervision of management, is tasked with providing clinical guidance and training related to patient care and respiratory matters within the facility.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must possess a CRT or RRT license and be a graduate of an AMA accredited respiratory care program.

Licenses/Certification:

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ventilator certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Preferred one year of experience in respiratory therapy within a long-term care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver respiratory services as per established protocols, which may include patient assessments, data collection, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of respiratory care activities and patient interactions, including consultations and communications with healthcare professionals.
  • Assist the facility in compliance matters, ensuring proper storage and documentation of respiratory equipment and supplies.
  • Handle routine communications and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Collaborate with facility staff on clinical and operational matters related to patient care.
  • Evaluate patients' respiratory needs, including oxygen saturation assessments and ventilator management.
  • Complete treatments and ventilator checks promptly, alerting supervisors to any concerns.
  • Ensure accurate completion of treatment records at the end of each month.
  • Assess patients for decannulation and weaning processes.
  • Participate in various special projects as needed.
  • Address routine issues and communicate solutions to relevant personnel.
