Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Northern Arizona Healthcare Corporation. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support services.

About the Role:

  • You will work under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider to assist with patient care and administrative tasks.
  • You will be responsible for conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients, reviewing medical records, and documenting patient information.
  • You will also assist with clerical tasks, such as scheduling appointments and processing test results.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care
  • You will escort patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and communicate any delays or extended wait times.
  • You will review patient medical records and conduct pre-visit interviews to gather vital information.
  • You will check patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen levels.
  • You will document patient medical history and vital signs in the electronic medical record.
  • You will communicate patient concerns or significant changes in their health status to the physician or allied health professional.
Community Care Management
  • You will assess living environments and subjective symptoms to identify potential issues and report them to the provider.
  • You will support and reinforce provider care plans and education.
  • You will collaborate with care management teams and other community agencies to support patient care.
  • You will follow up with patients post-hospital visits.
Cardiology Clinic/Departments
  • You will prepare patients for examinations and assist with minor procedures.
  • You will instruct patients on urine collection procedures.
  • You will assist patients with donning and doffing compression garments as needed.
Administration
  • You will maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • You will answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone calls and communicate effectively with callers.
  • You will perform pre-visit reviews to ensure the medical record has all necessary information.
  • You will document patient information in the electronic medical record following standard work guidelines.
  • You will communicate patient concerns or significant changes in patient's health status to the physician or allied health professional.

Qualifications:

  • You must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • You must have a Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited program or certification from a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health Care Association (NHA).
  • You must have a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • You must obtain a fingerprint clearance card within 90 days of hire.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
