About the Role:

Abacus Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional to support our region project offices as the Safety Manager. This position will be responsible for ensuring EHS compliance and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion regulatory compliance programs, ensuring 100% compliance with OSHA and DOT requirements, as well as federal and/or state regulations.
  • Support EHS training programs by scheduling and hosting activities, ensuring projects maintain the appropriate level of safety training for employees.
  • Perform Temporary Traffic Control inspections to ensure compliance with State and MUTCD policies and procedures.
  • Improve overall safety culture, engaging employees and management, promoting positive accomplishments with effective performance metrics.
  • Encourage a proactive reporting culture, and ensure that appropriate attention is given to the determination of root cause and ensuring that corrective actions have been completed.
  • Perform site safety inspections, reviewing closure of identified unsafe conditions to ensure response was appropriate and timely.
  • Provide technical safety support and assistance to Project Managers and regional safety managers as needed.
  • Coordinate all accident investigations and follow-up measures.
  • Coordinate and/or perform specialized training as required.
  • Complete safety narratives for proposals as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or construction-related degree, or minimum of five (5) years related experience and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities.
  • Strong, critical thinking skills and capable of anticipating organizational needs.
  • Ability to work effectively handling multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Maintenance of company standards for background checks (i.e., criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing).
  • Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • Carry out simple arithmetic functions.
  • Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job.
  • Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology.
  • Ability to use a smartphone and applications.
  • Ability to adjust to changing work schedules.
  • Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate hand/power tools.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, Monday – Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. Must be able to work outside of set schedule when needed.
