Instructional Support Specialist Opportunity

Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation are committed to providing high-quality educational services to opportunity and justice-involved youth.

We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team as an Instructor and Advocate for Students with Special Needs.

This role will involve providing direct instruction and support to students with IEPs, as well as advocating for their rights and interests within the school community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction to small groups of students, focusing on specific academic or life skills goals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families, school professionals, and community partners to enhance student outcomes
  • Participate in SPED team meetings and instructional planning sessions to ensure effective collaboration and coordination
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student progress and data analysis
  • Stay current with research and best practices in special education, applying new ideas to improve instruction and student outcomes

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or subject field, with experience working with students with special needs
  • Certification by DC OSSE in the appropriate content area (required within one year of employment)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines

Compensation Package:

This role comes with a salary range of $62,000 - $72,000 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
