Special Education Assistant Position

At BASIS DC, we are seeking a qualified Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our team. As an integral part of our special education program, this role plays a vital support function in ensuring students with exceptionalities receive the necessary care and attention.

We offer a competitive salary for this position, estimated at around $45,000 annually, based on education and experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse needs
  • Provide one-on-one support and reinforcement of positive behavior expectations
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and progress information
  • Collaborate with ESS Coordinator/SPED Teacher to prepare resource materials and provide progress reporting
  • Support administrative tasks and maintain regular attendance

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check
  • Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certifications and Credentials: Passing score on applicable paraprofessional exam, CPI or TACT-2
  • 1+ years with related special education job duties
