Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of electrical switchgear controls and backup systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in switchgear and control systems, providing effective resolutions.
  • Interpret and analyze electrical schematics.
  • Work with PLC and ladder logic systems.
  • Modify and annotate drawings as necessary.
  • Understand network systems, including Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optics.
  • Engage with SCADA and HMI systems.
  • Collaborate with clients to ascertain their technical needs and offer expert guidance.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and industry standards during all field service operations.
  • Document detailed service reports for each task completed.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to clients and junior engineers as required.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Travel to client locations as needed, often on short notice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in electrical field service, particularly with switchgear controls and backup systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical switchgear, control systems, and standby power solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing intricate electrical systems.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with PLC and ladder logic.
  • Ability to modify and annotate technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of networking systems, including Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optics.
  • Experience with SCADA and HMI technologies.
  • Awareness of industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, up to 60% of the time, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (not mandatory).
  • Experience with specific brands or types of switchgear and control systems, particularly Siemens, ABB, Eaton, and Schneider.
  • Additional certifications in electrical safety or related fields.
