Job Summary

UMOS is seeking a highly skilled Health Services Worker I to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional health services to our clients, ensuring their well-being and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Case Review Process: Participate in the case review process to address health and disabilities program areas, determine special health care needs, and schedule necessary health services.
  2. Health Issues: Address health issues, including short-term illness-related exclusions, in accordance with sick child/communicable disease procedures and state licensing.
  3. Consents and Referrals: Obtain consents from parents for EPSDT, health, or dental services and coordinate transportation as needed.
  4. Paperwork and Reporting: Prepare paperwork for clinics, including necessary forms for providers, and submit complete and accurate reports for assigned program areas.
  5. Health, Nutrition, and Disabilities Program: Implement the Health, Nutrition, and Disabilities program, including in-house staffing and referrals, in accordance with UMOS policies and procedures.
  6. IEP/IFSP Development: Ensure IEP/IFSP is developed in accordance with policy and procedures and monitor its implementation and tracking.
  7. Child and Adult Care Food Program: Implement and monitor the Child and Adult Care Food Program, including family-style meals, menus, and proper storage and handling of breast milk.
  8. Health and Safety Compliance: Monitor health and safety compliance, including conducting and monitoring health and safety checklist completion, posting SDS information, and scheduling emergency preparedness drills.
  9. Training and Development: Participate in training and development activities, including First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, Blood-borne Pathogen/Universal Precautions, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Child Abuse/Neglect trainings.
  10. Reporting and Data Entry: Submit complete and accurate reports for assigned program areas and ensure data entry of health, oral health, disabilities, and special services in the family database tracking system.
  11. Recruitment and Retention: Assist in ongoing recruitment plan activities, including recruitment of children with disabilities.
  12. Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting: Report suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state law and UMOS policies and procedures.
Requirements
  1. Education: Be at least 18 years old and have a High School Diploma/GED.
  2. Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant or National Head Start Basic Health Services credential.
  3. Skills: Possess presentation/training experience and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  4. Communication: Good oral and written communication skills.
  5. Language: Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  6. Certifications: Certified in First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR, and AED.

Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and bend. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Occasionally required to drive. Frequently exposed to moderate temperature generally encountered in a controlled temperature environment. Exposed to bumpy travel conditions.

Tools and Equipment Used: Phones, computer system, fax machine, copy machine, laminator, computer, calculator, first aid equipment, fire extinguisher.

Additional Eligibility Requirements: Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check prior to employment. In accordance with licensing regulations, must complete a physical exam and TB test showing absence of Tuberculosis within 30 days of employment. Must complete approved Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children and Fire Extinguisher Training within 30 days.
