Position Overview:

The Offensive Cyber Operations Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting the Plans and Exercise Lead for a premier cyber training initiative. This position is integral to one of the largest and most advanced cyber training and operational platforms globally. The specialist will facilitate project teams by executing cybersecurity training and evaluation events within a cyber range, specifically functioning as a red team operator. The role involves the implementation of offensive cyber range content and ensuring that offensive kits and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) align with evolving operational strategies. Additionally, the specialist will assist in creating after-action review documentation and maintain regular communication with clients to set priorities and provide updates on project status. This role demands both leadership and management capabilities, alongside exceptional presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the execution of cybersecurity training and evaluation events within cyber ranges.
  • Assist in the deployment of offensive cyber range content, including virtual machines, networks, and training materials.
  • Provide client-facing support for red cell exercise events and develop visual materials to track priorities for multi-national cyber exercises.
  • Experience with the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) is highly advantageous.
  • Collaborate with content developers and managers to configure and utilize red cell applications for training events.
  • Support the development, testing, documentation, and deployment of complex cyber and IT training systems.
  • Ensure the highest standards of task completion, adhering to contractual performance metrics and deliverables.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a red team operator.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current red team tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Ability to configure and deploy red cell tools within a virtualized cyber range.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled public speaker.
  • Capability to create basic to intermediate graphics for presentations to senior officials.
  • Experience in organizing and coordinating client deliverables.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance measures to enhance contract performance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Proficient in establishing effective working relationships with senior-level clients, technical teams, and peers.
  • Ability to comprehend multi-level client expectations and ensure effective program management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in intelligence, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related field is required; advanced studies are preferred.
  • Alternatively, 4+ years of experience in cyber training, validation exercises, or with a cyber protection team (CPT) or Combat Mission Team (CMT), including planning and execution.
  • Completion of a military technical training program such as CTIA, FORGE, DoD red team, or exploit analyst is required.
  • Five years of Department of Defense leadership experience may substitute for a degree.
  • A minimum of five years managing complex projects and programs for the federal government is necessary.
  • Certification as a DoD Red Team is highly desired.
