About Our Work

As an Environmental Health Specialist at Maricopa County, you will play a critical role in protecting the health and well-being of our residents. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is passionate about public health and environmental protection.

Job Requirements

You will be responsible for conducting compliance reviews and field inspections to safeguard public health sanitation codes. You will also work closely with various stakeholders to identify and address potential health risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine, unscheduled, and complaint investigations
  • Review and comment on plans, specifications, and construction regarding compliance with environmental codes and regulations
  • Evaluate and document inspection data to determine compliance, permit fees, violations, and citations
  • Inspect and investigate environmental health aspects of businesses, factories, food handling facilities, food preparation and processing areas, waste transport, onsite wastewater systems, water systems, swimming pools, lodging, recreation, and public facilities in compliance with environmental/public health rules and regulations
