Position: School Social Services Coordinator (Part-Time)

Core Responsibilities:

As a Part-Time School Social Services Coordinator, your primary duties will encompass:

  • Conducting assessments and evaluations in alignment with student and family rights.
  • Utilizing assessment results to identify and address needs impacting student learning.
  • Providing counseling services to students and their families.
  • Performing psycho-social assessments and diagnosing behavioral challenges, with recommendations for interventions.
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of educational assessments.
  • Engaging in the Child Study Process and Individual Education Program (IEP) as necessary.
  • Referring families to appropriate public or private agencies and ensuring follow-up.
  • Acting as a liaison among school, family, and community resources.
  • Offering insights regarding community resources available to families.
  • Collaborating in case conferences with other educational and community professionals.
  • Consulting on issues related to academic credit issuance.
  • Working individually with students to address personal challenges related to family dynamics, health, and emotional well-being.
  • Contributing to the development of policies that enhance instructional success.
  • Collaborating with health education staff to implement the school's health education initiatives.
  • Providing training for staff on guidance programs and conflict resolution.
  • Adhering to the ethical standards set forth by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
  • Maintaining a conducive learning environment and ensuring the safe use of educational resources.
  • Managing student records in compliance with relevant regulations while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Organizing time and resources effectively to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Engaging in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Assuming additional responsibilities as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work is required.
  • Certification as a school social worker or enrollment in a Master's program for School Social Work.
  • Experience in a school environment is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • A compassionate and approachable demeanor.
  • A strong sense of professionalism and discretion.
