Role Summary

The Culinary Specialist will operate under the guidance of the Director of Restaurant and Hospitality, contributing to the overall success of the Dining Services Department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality of meals served, the excellence of service during dining hours, and adherence to any special dietary requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Director of Restaurant and Hospitality in planning, directing, and managing the Food Service Department.
  2. Implement the Menu Program that aligns with nutritional standards, as directed by the Food Service Director, while adhering to approved purchasing practices.
  3. Respond to resident preferences, ensuring high satisfaction levels with meal offerings and compliance with safe food handling protocols.
  4. Maintain proper food temperatures and time controls during storage, preparation, and serving, in accordance with food safety regulations.
  5. Engage with residents in the dining area to gauge their preferences and satisfaction with meals.
  6. Support the Director in the recruitment and training of new staff within the dietary department, providing input on performance evaluations as necessary.
  7. Ensure a clean and organized kitchen environment, including all equipment and storage areas.
  8. Promote a safe working environment, managing any potentially hazardous conditions in compliance with safety standards.
  9. Encourage teamwork among colleagues, demonstrating initiative and a positive influence on co-workers, residents, and visitors.
  10. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in food service is required.
  • Three years of experience in food service is preferred.
