Work-Based Learning Coordinator

The Work-Based Learning/Career Transition Readiness Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of students in our Work-Based Learning (WBL) and Career Transition Readiness (CTR) programs. This dynamic individual will coordinate and administer the WBL program, fostering strong employer partnerships and providing students with hands-on, trade-related technical training in authentic work environments. Additionally, the Coordinator will oversee the CTR program, ensuring students are adequately prepared for the workforce with job search techniques and assistance in remedying barriers to entry.
Key Responsibilities- Community Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers to serve as WBL hosts and promote a positive image of the program.
- Program Promotion: Collaborate with the outreach team to promote the program and solicit community members for participation on the Center's workforce council.
- WBL Site Management: Establish WBL agreements with employers, ensuring compliance with Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) Appendix 304 and Exhibit 3-1, and regularly visit WBL sites to ensure quality training in a safe environment.
- Student Support: Coordinate transportation and support services to assist students in meeting WBL assignments, monitor attendance, and coordinate regular evaluations by WBL site supervisors.
- Workplace Readiness: Engage with students through scheduled classes to assist them in acquiring workplace readiness skills.
- Transition Readiness: Provide an initial introduction to career transition readiness for new students and conduct an initial transition needs assessment.
- Progress Evaluation: Collaborate with the career management team to evaluate student progress and project when students transition from one program phase to the next.
- Employer Partnerships: Network with career technical training instructors to promote job development and establish employer partnerships benefiting students.
- Graduate Support: Focus on assisting graduates to obtain employment prior to separation from the program and coordinate requests for career-related leaves for students to conduct job search activities.
- Documentation: Assist projected graduates to assemble a portfolio of documents necessary for job search and employment, including resumes, licenses, credentials, and documentation of accomplishments.
- Professional Development: Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and Strategix training.
- Accountability: Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property, adhering to safety practices and promoting a harassment-free environment.
- Data Management: Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student's personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.
- Leadership: Adhere to and model Strategix servant leadership culture values: Honor Others, Inspire Vision, Choose Integrity, People First, Balance Focus with Flexibility, Serve with Humility, and Innovate and Disrupt.
Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, and one year's experience working with disadvantaged youth, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and public speaking skills are required. Information technology proficiency, including MS Office, is also necessary. A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching or training and facilitation experience is strongly preferred.
