Key Responsibilities- Patient Care
- Deliver patient care with a focus on patient growth and development, tailored to the needs of our residents.
- Observe and report any changes in patients' physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and social well-being.
- Take and record vital signs, reporting any deviations from normal to the Primary or Charge Nurse.
- Obtain specimens as assigned, including urine, stool, and sputum.
- Weigh patients and record their weight.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including skin care, bathing, dressing, and ambulation.
- Record oral intake and urinary output.
- Perform assigned treatments, such as R.O.M., Dayroom Monitoring, and Courtesy Cart.
- Communicate effectively with Charge Nurse/Primary Nurse regarding patients' needs and requests.
- Orient patients to their environment and develop rapport with patients, family, and significant others.
- Patient Care Related Duties
- Keep patient units and non-patient areas clean, including wiping tables, neatening storage rooms, pantries, and other areas.
- Prepare bedside units for new admissions, stocking with bedpans, tissues, water, and cups.
- Apply principles of infection control and safety in the work environment.
- Report significant unit problems to the Charge Nurse.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Promote adherence to the Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Customer Service
- Provide respectful, flexible, knowledgeable, confident, professional, pleasant, patient, and helpful service to patients, family, and staff.
- Respond in a timely, professional, caring, and respectful manner, in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Attend required in-service education classes, including resident rights, advance directives, and abuse prevention.
- Effectively utilize the hospital computer system, as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy.
- Participate in the orientation of nursing assistants.
- Participate in unit committees and CQI activities, as assigned.
- Assist other personnel as necessary.
- Perform other related duties, as required.
- Education
- Successful completion of an approved Nurses Aide training course.
- Minimum - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Maintain Nurses Aide Certification.
- Heartsaver certification.
- Experience
- 1 year of experience as a Nurse's Aide, preferred.
- Skills
- Technical skills required for patient care.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Must pass the Nursing Attendant test, administered by BRMC.
- Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position.
