Job Summary

The YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee seeks a dedicated Animal Care Specialist to join our team. This role requires a minimum of one year of experience in animal care, maintenance of records, and providing exceptional customer service.

About the Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the well-being and proper care of animals in our Pet Shelter. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will maintain a clean and organized facility, ensure accurate records, and provide excellent customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain kennels, feed pets, bathe pets, and take them to play areas for exercise and physical needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health and vaccination history, reporting any issues as needed.
  • Ensure all operating procedures are followed, maintaining a clean and organized facility.
  • Provide information and assistance to pet owners as necessary, scheduling appointments and transporting animals for care.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in animal care, preferably in a licensed pet kennel or 501C3 pet shelter/rescue organization.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, work in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) a plus.
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $35,000 - $45,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
