We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Services Librarian to join our team at the University Libraries. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and enhancement of digital library systems, platforms, and applications to ensure effective and efficient delivery of library digital resources and services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Digital Library Systems: Develop and enhance digital library systems, platforms, and applications to ensure effective and efficient delivery of library digital resources and services.
- Design and Develop Web Presence: Lead the design and development of the University Libraries web presence, which is the central place for providing access to library digital content and services.
- Manage Institutional Repository: Manage the administration of Loyola eCommons, the university's institutional repository.
- Provide Technical Support: Provide technology support for library digital resources, services, and platforms, including digital content management, electronic theses and dissertations, and local special collections.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Lead development and planning strategies for user-centered digital services through collaborations with other stakeholders.
- Stay Current with Trends: Keep current with trends in web and digital library technologies and participate in professional organizations.
- Master's Degree: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library and information science program, or a graduate degree or professional certification in a related field, combined with relevant library experience.
- Professional Experience: Two or more years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an academic library.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated skill with many of the specific technologies used in current library systems, such as: HTML/CSS/Javascript, XML/XSLT, Python, PHP, Java/Tomcat, Apache Web Server, MySQL.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to effectively determine the root cause of issues and implement the appropriate solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, including a positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning.
