The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a skilled Physician (Hospitalist) to join our team at Mather VA Hospital. As a Hospitalist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and care for new and returning patients with various medical problems, including hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, COPD, depression, and chronic pain.
- Deliver care via face-to-face, telehealth, or video visits, with occasional travel to VISN medical centers or Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOCs).
- Order diagnostics, consultations, medications, and other therapies as medically indicated, and meet preventative health maintenance needs.
- Complete all required VA computer documentation, including clinical reminders and screenings, in a timely manner.
- Evaluate patients, including performance of H&P (history and physical), diagnosis, consultation, and treatment of adult patients with medical illnesses.
- Perform diagnostic or therapeutic joint aspiration/injection, soft tissue injection, routine women's health procedures, laceration repair, foreign body removal, abscess incision and drainage, diagnostic paracentesis, and wound debridement.
- Care for patients via face-to-face, telemedicine, or VA-approved video modalities, and perform preliminary interpretation of ECG and radiographic studies.
- Supervise residents, fellows, and others in training.
This is a full-time position with a standard Monday-Friday schedule, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.
