This position performs a variety of different CT and MRI imaging procedures. The successful candidate will follow established protocols and make adjustments to set parameters on the operating console to compensate for different patient conditions, minimizing exposure time while producing high-quality diagnostic images. The individual will document important patient history related to the procedure, prepare the exam room and tray setup for invasive procedures, and be proficient in starting IVs to inject contrast media via an automatic injector and by IVP. The candidate will review all safety concerns for anyone entering MRI and strive to keep radiation doses to a minimum. Effective communication with other staff and physician offices is essential to ensure accuracy in order information, contributing to the efficient operation of the department. The individual will participate in accreditation and quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform CT and MRI imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Adjust parameters on the operating console to compensate for different patient conditions.
- Document important patient history related to the procedure.
- Prepare the exam room and tray setup for invasive procedures.
- Start IVs to inject contrast media via an automatic injector and by IVP.
- Review safety concerns for anyone entering MRI and minimize radiation doses.
- Communicate effectively with other staff and physician offices.
- Participate in accreditation and quality initiatives.
- Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in a JCERT-approved school.
- Must be MRI and CT Registered or Registry eligible and complete one registry within the first year of employment and another within two years of employment if not done previously.
- CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under stress and maintain a professional image.
- Developed computer skills and ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
- Excellent customer service skills with special emphasis on patient-centered care.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of confidential matters or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
- Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.
- Work may be subject to interruptions.
- Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical, and radiation hazards.
- Works with protected health information.
- Ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends based on the needs of the department.
