Position Overview

Atrium Health is looking for a dedicated full-time Facility Sanitation Specialist. This role is essential in fostering environmental safety by ensuring that medical facilities remain clean and secure for both staff and visitors.

Key Highlights:
Starting pay: $17.50/hour

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

1. Conduct thorough cleaning of designated areas, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures
  • Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures
  • Sweeping, scrubbing, and refinishing floors
  • Vacuuming and shampooing carpets
  • Restocking restroom supplies
  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Reporting maintenance needs

Most tasks are performed indoors, but may also involve outdoor cleaning, including parking lots and windows. Some activities may require the use of a ladder.

2. Engage with cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, floor strippers, and finishes.

3. Manage waste removal by:

  • Collecting and transporting soiled linens
  • Emptying trash receptacles
  • Changing sharps containers
  • Transporting solid and hazardous waste to designated areas
  • Recycling materials
  • Emptying cigarette receptacles in designated smoking areas

4. Maintain cleanliness and order of equipment, reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance staff.

5. Ensure a safe working environment and deliver quality service by adhering to procedures, regulations, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards.

6. Attend all mandatory in-service education and training sessions, including safety updates, to enhance technical knowledge.

7. Consistently demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and schedules.

Qualified Candidates:

Preferred: High School diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred: One year of relevant experience
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Proficient in operating cleaning equipment
Capable of establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with colleagues.

Work Environment:

Engages in repetitive tasks according to established procedures.
Fast-paced and potentially stressful environment.
Works in various conditions, including contaminated, isolation, construction, and renovation areas.
May occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures and unpleasant odors.
Interaction with individuals with diverse mental and physical health conditions.
