Job Overview:

As a Healthcare Security Specialist, you will be responsible for responding to alarms and emergency situations, utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques to effectively manage safety incidents. Confidentiality and discretion are paramount when handling sensitive information, and exceptional customer service is expected at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a secure, comfortable, and therapeutic atmosphere for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Monitor the psychosocial conditions of patients and report any changes to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, considering their individual age, education level, and understanding of treatment.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and the proper functioning of security equipment.
  • Utilize the appropriate chain of command for resolving complex issues.
  • Conduct regular security rounds throughout the facility.
  • Complete de-escalation training within the first month of employment.
  • Respond promptly to all incidents related to violence.
  • Collaborate closely with local law enforcement as required.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Memorial Hospital.
  • Assist visitors with directions and inquiries.
  • Introduce yourself to patients, families, and visitors to foster a welcoming environment.
  • Report any safety hazards as they arise.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, including hand hygiene and standard precautions.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in all job functions.
  • Work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, or nights as assigned.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Consistently observe safety protocols and maintain age-specific safety measures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and foster positive employee relations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that the hospital's Service Excellence initiatives are implemented effectively.
  • Respond efficiently to fire drills, emergencies, and other critical situations.
  • Maintain composure in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Manage aggressive situations with verbal interventions and de-escalation techniques, ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
  • Assist clinical staff with the application of clinical restraints when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Background in security or law enforcement is preferred but not mandatory.
