We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health team at Sovah Health - Martinsville. As a Behavioral Health Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to individuals with mental health conditions, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process, ensuring accurate assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform clinical treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Document patient care given, monitoring and recording patient condition as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with the care team, physicians, patients, and families to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Assign priorities to patient problems, addressing the most urgent and critical needs first.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborate with the care team to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluate learning needs of patients and families, providing education and support to promote health and well-being.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Successful completion of orientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills/credentials/competency requirements of the Behavioral Health Unit.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
