Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in machining with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, as well as the ability to follow work orders and work in teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain machine shop equipment, including Southwestern Industries mills and lathes utilizing ProtoTRAK controls.
- Review drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
- Select appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
- Monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
- Check output for quality assurance and document or discard defects.
- Maintain a safe and clean workstation.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Support our Sheet Metal and Misc. Metals shop needs.
Requirements
- Experience in machining with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel preferred.
- Ability to follow work orders and work in teams.
- ProtoTRAK control experience a plus.
- Experience with Southwestern knee mills and lathes a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret designs/blueprints.
- Ability to perform physical labor and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to work standing for an 8-hour shift.
- Knowledge of various steels and alloys, NDE processes, and requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Driver's license, required.
