Job Title: Restaurant General Manager

The IHOP Restaurant General Manager plays a crucial role in driving sales growth, profitability, and maintaining high standards of quality and service. Reporting directly to the Area Director, this manager is responsible for supervising employees and managing restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive sales growth and profitability by managing all areas of the restaurant, including front and back of the house operations.
  • Manage daily restaurant operations, including decision-making, staff support, guest interaction, scheduling, and planning.
  • Provide consistent and appropriate feedback to employees to facilitate their development and enhance the overall operation.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to guarantee guest satisfaction and increase sales.
  • Interview, hire, and train high-quality hourly candidates.
  • Conduct orientations and follow up with IHOP's training program.
  • Prepare reports, including Daily Sales Reports, Daily Cash Interims, and Daily Labor controls.
  • Prepare food production checklists and ensure proper implementation of company recipes.
  • Order food, small wares, uniforms, and other necessary products to maintain operational standards.
  • Identify operational opportunities and create plans to address them.
  • Approve and sign all food or beverage discounts.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  • Protect employees, guests, and company assets by implementing proper security procedures.
  • Keep the Area Supervisor informed of unit issues and take prompt corrective action.
  • Complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner.
  • Project a favorable image of IHOP to promote its goals and objectives.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Requirements:

  • Typically work indoors, but may occasionally work outdoors.
  • Be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when restaurants are busiest.
  • Be willing to work unpredictable hours to fill in for absent workers.
  • Be aware of changing events in the local area to ensure proper staffing.
  • Be willing to work at any local units or possibly relocate.
