Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all underwriting functions within the division.
  • Manage the evaluation and approval process for loan applications submitted by the department.
  • Ensure the quality of underwriting for approved loans.
  • Collaborate with the closing department to confirm that all underwriting conditions are satisfied prior to loan closure.
  • Stay updated on current underwriting practices and ensure that the underwriting team is informed of any changes.
  • Address compliance matters within the underwriting division.
  • Handle staffing decisions including hiring, transfers, terminations, and performance assessments.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 6 years of experience in credit practices, lending, and underwriting.
  • Some managerial experience is preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit practices, lending regulations, and underwriting concepts is essential.
  • Proven ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Expertise in credit scoring, financial analysis, and loan evaluation metrics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
  • Familiarity with various relevant software applications.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative principles and concepts.
