Job Summary

The Agricultural Research Service is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to lead a multidisciplinary team in conducting research related to foodborne pathogens in livestock and poultry. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance for conducting research in a multidisciplinary program to identify and control foodborne human pathogens and antibiotic resistance in food animals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance for conducting research in a multidisciplinary program to identify and control foodborne human pathogens and antibiotic resistance in food animals.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team conducting research related to technologies or strategies for controlling foodborne pathogens in livestock or poultry.
  • Publish related research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Be invited to present research findings at scientific conferences, either in person or virtually.
  • Experience supervising staff to accomplish research objectives.
  • Work with stakeholders to enhance research efforts or write grant proposals to expand existing programs.
Requirements
  • A degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
  • Experience in conducting independent research related to technologies or strategies for controlling foodborne pathogens in livestock or poultry.
  • Publishing related research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Being invited to present research findings at scientific conferences, either in person or virtually.
  • Experience supervising staff to accomplish research objectives.
  • Working with stakeholders to enhance research efforts or writing grant proposals to expand existing programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leading a multidisciplinary team conducting research related to technologies or strategies for controlling foodborne pathogens in livestock or poultry.
  • Publishing related research results as first or corresponding author in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Being invited to present research findings at scientific conferences, either in person or virtually.
  • Experience supervising staff to accomplish research objectives.
  • Experience in transferring developed technologies or intervention strategies in the field.
