Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer 6

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer 6 to join our team in Englewood, CO. This role will involve performing a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement fire protection systems and designs for complex projects.
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations to analyze engineering problems and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with stakeholders at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver technical papers and perform engineering studies.
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • May supervise a group of employees for a given project, contract, or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical, and employee performance.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • Must have passed the national NCEES fire protection engineering exam.
  • Experience in major aspects of industrial fire protection and life safety, and major codes and standards, including NFPA suppression system standards, NFPA alarm system standards, DOE, DOD, API, ICC, and FM Global Data Sheets.
  • Special hazards, including electric generating plants, facilities handling nuclear materials, battery energy storage systems, flammable and combustible liquids, LNG and LPG, explosions and deflagrations, existing facility evaluations, fire hazard and risk evaluations/analysis, fire modeling, life safety, performance-based design, and hydraulic analysis.
  • Computer skills, including hydraulic analysis software (HASS, HydraCALC).
  • Communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and in a manner readily understood by stakeholders outside the fire protection profession.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with various CAD programs, such as AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD (and HydraCalc).
Compensation & Benefits:

Hiring salary range: $140K - $180K Annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
