About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Litigation Counsel to join our Corporate Legal Department at UHS. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting general litigation, including affirmative litigation, and government investigation matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Litigation Management: Oversee and manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement discussions.
  • Government Investigations: Lead the company's response to federal, state, and local government investigations, ensuring timely and thorough compliance with inquiries, subpoenas, and regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Strategic Counsel: Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and the impact of government investigations on business operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams such as compliance, operations, and risk management to develop litigation strategies that align with business objectives.
  • External Counsel Management: Manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective handling of legal matters.
  • Dispute Resolution: Participate in alternative dispute resolution efforts, including mediation and arbitration, to minimize litigation where possible.
  • Consumer Protection Litigation: Manage all consumer protection litigation on behalf of the company, including patient billing, liens on patient accounts, and pending class actions matters.
Requirements
  • Law degree with 3-5 years' experience in commercial litigation.
  • Experience with the healthcare industry or with medical providers preferred, but not required.
  • Must be admitted into the state bar or have in-house counsel license.
