This role necessitates a blend of technical expertise to conduct independent evaluations and strategic planning for existing enterprise applications and systems, alongside strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration across various departments, ensuring seamless operations.

The selected candidate will collaborate with RDTS leadership and government personnel to formulate plans based on scheduled assessments of systems and applications, aligning with the mission objectives of the department.


Key Responsibilities:


Conduct comprehensive security assessments (either full or partial) on each system within the Cybersecurity portfolio.

The systems requiring evaluation will be identified by the Program Manager and Government Lead, based on the current workload.

Independently execute IT audits on intricate information systems, applications, and enclaves to verify that appropriate controls are in place, correctly implemented, and compliant with NIST, Federal, and DOD standards.

Perform cybersecurity control validation exercises on both classified and unclassified networks, applications, and systems to assess the effectiveness of existing security measures.

Accurately evaluate the necessary level of security required for each system.

Implement all necessary procedures to safeguard information systems assets and protect them from unauthorized access or destruction.

Provide technical support in areas such as vulnerability assessment, risk management, network security, and security implementation.

Assist in developing a Security Assessment Plan (SAP) that outlines the scope of the system assessment.


The SAP will encompass:
Security controls and enhancements under evaluation.
Assessment procedures to determine the effectiveness of security controls.
Assessment environment, team composition, and roles and responsibilities.

The outcomes of the security assessment will be documented in the Security Assessment Report (SAR), Security Requirements Compliance Matrix (SRCM), and the Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M).


Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or a related cybersecurity field.
Five (5) to Ten (10) years of relevant experience.
Fundamental understanding of Splunk applications is essential.
Experience with security scanning tools such as Tenable, Qualys, DB Protect, or Websense is preferred.
Strong knowledge of DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark configurations.
Ability to balance business needs with security concerns and analyze mitigations to ensure compliance with security requirements.
Must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with scripting languages.
Familiarity with host-based and application layer scanning technologies.
Knowledge of cloud-based systems such as Azure, AWS, or Oracle OCI.
In-depth understanding of security fundamentals and common vulnerabilities.

Experience with a comprehensive range of information technologies and associated security models, including server/OS, databases, hardware, network devices, and user applications/SDLC.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to meet customer needs.
