Job Overview

As a Floral Product Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the ordering, restocking, and presentation of floral merchandise while actively participating in promotional initiatives. Your role will encompass all tasks related to receiving deliveries, organizing back stock, and showcasing new products effectively. You will work closely with the Team Leader to create attractive promotional displays, maintain inventory in the back room, and deliver exceptional customer service to both customers and team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by promptly addressing customer inquiries and needs.
  • Maintain an inviting and fresh display by ensuring shelves and displays are clean, well-stocked, and organized through front-facing, code-checking, and removing expired products.
  • Articulate the unique qualities of our floral products compared to conventional offerings to educate customers.
  • Replenish floral inventory using established purchasing protocols.
  • Ensure timely and accurate product orders to optimize inventory turnover.
  • Strategically place new products within your designated categories.
  • Engage in regional and national sales initiatives.
  • Construct displays based on product movement, promotional activities, profitability, and regional guidelines.
  • Manage the special order process for customers.
  • Assist leadership in conducting inventory assessments.
  • Contribute to financial success by achieving and surpassing margin and sales objectives.
  • Aid in the training and development of team members regarding product knowledge.
  • Ensure department signage and pricing are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Stay informed by reviewing daily communication logs and updates from leadership.
  • Comply with all relevant regulatory standards, including health and safety regulations, while adhering to safe work practices.
  • Complete sanitation and sweep logs as required.
  • Uphold a safe, clean, and organized working and shopping environment.
  • Successfully complete the in-store training program.
  • Attend all assigned team and store meetings.
  • Support global, regional, and store initiatives.
  • Respond to department phone calls and pages promptly and professionally.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of floral products.
  • Familiarity with floral merchandising standards and a keen attention to detail.
  • A strong desire to grow within the Floral team.
  • Proactive sales abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to convey information clearly to team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Capability to educate the team on product knowledge and share enthusiasm.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic math proficiency.
  • Proficient in using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and accountability in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • A strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Passion for natural products.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment, including box cutters and electric pallet jacks.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.

Desired Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in buying and merchandising or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the floral industry.
  • Strong focus on customer service.
