Join our dedicated team at Sonic Healthcare, where you will play a vital role in supporting pathologists by processing biological specimens.

Location: Not specified

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Hours: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM (Flexible)

Employment Type: Full-time with benefits

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of biological specimens, accurately describing and measuring them.
  • Perform inking and sectioning of anatomic and dermatological specimens to facilitate further diagnostic processing.
  • Work effectively in a dynamic laboratory environment, adhering to safety protocols regarding biological and chemical hazards.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
  • An associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or
  • A minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including:
    • 24 semester hours in medical laboratory technology courses, or
    • 24 semester hours in science courses, which must include:
      • 6 semester hours of chemistry,
      • 6 semester hours of biology, and
      • 12 semester hours in any combination of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Entry-level laboratory technicians are welcome to apply.
  • Strong analytical, reading, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in operating general laboratory equipment, including computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, and pipettes.

This position involves routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will receive training on maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy and security standards. Access to PHI is limited to what is necessary for job functions.
