Uncommon Schools is a network of high-performing, public charter schools dedicated to providing an outstanding K-12 education in historically under-resourced communities. We're seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to join our team at Rochester Prep.

About the Role

As an ELA teacher at Uncommon Schools, you'll play a critical role in shaping the academic and personal growth of our students. You'll create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters a love of literature and writing, while also developing students' critical thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement engaging ELA lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to create a positive school culture
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and stay up-to-date on best practices in ELA education
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to develop academic goals and instructional strategies
  • Contribute to the development of a culturally responsive and inclusive curriculum that promotes equity and excellence for all students

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience working with students in urban settings (1-2 years preferred)
  • Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields
  • A commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools and our vision for being an anti-racist organization
