We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School English Language Arts teacher to join our team at Uncommon Schools. As a teacher at Uncommon, you will be part of a community that values academic excellence, social-emotional learning, and cultural responsiveness.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a high-performing, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12. Our schools are designed to provide a rigorous and engaging education that prepares students for success in college and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language Arts to middle school students, focusing on writing, reading, and discourse skills
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote student agency and academic autonomy
  • Partner with students' families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs
  • Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community and model our core values
  • Collaborate with grade level teams to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or other related fields of study
  • Commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools and investment in our vision for being an anti-racist organization
  • Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities
