Role Summary:
The Laboratory Director is responsible for organizing, directing, and overseeing the operations of the Laboratory department. This role ensures adherence to established policies and procedures, maintains appropriate staffing levels, and guarantees that supplies and equipment are adequately stocked. The director will also integrate the laboratory efficiently with other hospital departments, develop and manage the departmental budget, and promote ongoing performance improvement initiatives. Attendance at required meetings and encouragement of educational advancement for staff are essential components of this position, as is ensuring that employees complete necessary annual evaluations and competency assessments.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology is required.
Certification Requirements:
Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or an equivalent certification is mandatory.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in a laboratory environment is required.
