Job Title: Senior Property Accountant

Vaco is seeking a highly skilled Senior Property Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Property Accountant, you will be responsible for providing financial support to our clients in the real estate and investment sector.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct project-level cash analysis and review expenditures in NEXUS (AP system) and MRI (GL system).
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and perform vendor callbacks to verify updates to banking information.
  • Ensure accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and prepare calculations of various fees due to the company and third parties.
  • Record month-end journal entries and facilitate the closing process, reconcile balance sheet accounts (cash, AP, AR, etc.), and maintain the general ledger.
  • Assist Asset Managers with preparing and submitting draw requests to lenders and participate in and assist with the quarter-end close process.
  • Prepare financial/workpaper support for auditors, gather information for financial statement preparation and footnote disclosure for annual audits, and prepare financial packages for tax accountants and review partnership tax returns.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 3-5 years of accounting work experience.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MRI, Nexus, Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables), and partnership/fund accounting concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create a positive work environment for the team.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and strong follow-through.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, deadline and detail-oriented, with a sense of urgency.
