Position Overview:

The Special Security Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administration of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). This role ensures that all personnel and visitors adhere to the stringent standards set forth for government-sensitive and classified information, as well as physical security protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the scheduling, opening, and closing procedures for SCIFs.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of classified materials and storage facilities.
  • Assess and designate protection levels for sensitive documents and materials based on established guidelines.
  • Implement information security principles to address defined security concerns.
  • Investigate incidents related to the mishandling of classified information.
  • Design and execute security inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of classified information protection measures.
  • Maintain an active TS/SCI clearance and be prepared for a polygraph examination.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial security, or 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and delivering training on various security topics.
  • Familiarity with classification and declassification processes.
  • Ability to conduct briefings and training sessions on classified materials.
  • Skill in managing nondisclosure agreements and eligibility requests for personnel.
  • Experience in drafting policy recommendations and analytical reports.
  • Proficiency in creating clear and concise documentation using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Capability to recommend actions and follow up on inquiries related to security incidents.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must undergo a security investigation and meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.

Compensation Structure

Compensation is determined by various factors, including education, experience, and specific contract requirements. The expected salary range for this position is between $54,000 and $123,000 annually.
