Position Overview:
The Special Security Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). This role ensures that all personnel and visitors adhere to the established standards for handling sensitive and classified information, as well as physical security protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the scheduling, opening, and closing of SCIFs to maintain operational efficiency.
- Conduct audits and inspections of classified materials and storage facilities to ensure compliance with security regulations.
- Assess and designate protection levels for sensitive documents and materials based on established policies and procedures.
- Implement information security principles to address specific security concerns and conditions.
- Investigate incidents related to the mishandling of classified information and recommend corrective actions.
- Design and execute security inspections and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of classified information security procedures.
- Maintain an active TS/SCI clearance and be prepared to undergo a polygraph examination.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial security, or alternatively, 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in planning and delivering training on various security topics.
- Knowledge of classification and declassification processes for materials and information.
- Ability to conduct briefings and training sessions related to classified materials and security protocols.
- Proficient in managing nondisclosure agreements and assisting with eligibility requests for personnel.
- Skilled in preparing analytical reports and documents using Microsoft Office tools.
- Capable of recommending follow-up actions based on preliminary inquiries.
Clearance Requirements:
Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a TS/SCI clearance is mandatory.
