We are seeking a dedicated Museum Educator to enhance our educational offerings at the Children's Museum of Atlanta.
Position Overview:
This role is part-time and non-exempt, reporting to the Manager of Guest Experience. The schedule will include weekdays, at least one weekend day, and participation in events and holidays. The hourly wage starts at $18, increasing to $19 after the probationary period.
About Us:
The Children's Museum of Atlanta is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational experiences for children aged 0–8. Through various programs and exhibits, we aim to ignite children's curiosity and foster a love for learning through play.
Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage inter-generational learning through play-based activities.
- Assist in the development of inclusive and engaging museum programming.
- Facilitate hands-on activities in designated programming areas.
- Support self-guided field trips by providing orientations and assistance.
- Collaborate with the Museum Programs team to ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exhibit and programming spaces.
- Participate in training sessions and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a welcoming environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience in collaborative team settings.
- Comfortable working with children and caregivers in a learning environment.
- Strong teaching skills and understanding of childhood development.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Belief in a learn-through-play philosophy.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in educational or instructional settings is desirable.
- Customer service experience is a plus.
Compensation: $18-$19 per hour
