Job Summary:

The Endoscopy Technician provides critical support to physicians during endoscopic procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. Key responsibilities include assisting with patient care, maintaining equipment, and preparing rooms for procedures. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists physicians with endoscopic procedures, adhering to universal precautions and hospital policies.
  • Verifies patient information, prepares rooms, and ensures necessary equipment is available.
  • Maintains equipment in excellent condition, reporting malfunctions to the nurse in charge.
  • Cleans procedure rooms, including endoscopes and accessories, after procedures.
  • Enters patient data into the Image Manager Computer System, as trained by the manufacturer.
  • Collects and labels specimens obtained during procedures, following hospital guidelines.
  • Ensures patient comfort, directed by the nurse, and takes into consideration the patient's age and needs.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment in procedure rooms daily.
  • Participates in staff meetings, attends in-services, and updates knowledge and skills in the Endoscopy field.
  • Performs secretarial duties and transporter/messenger tasks as assigned by the Head Nurse.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalency, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare, required. Nursing attendant experience preferred.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and Olympus Image Manager, required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, self-starter, team player, works well under pressure, and has strong interpersonal and manual dexterity skills, required.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
