Job Summary

The PRN Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting with procedures in the GI Lab, ensuring continuous quality of care for patients of all ages. This role requires effective clinical skills, efficient use of equipment and supplies, and accountability for instruments and sharps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate effective clinical skills, utilizing time, equipment, and supplies efficiently and properly, pre, intra, and post-procedure.
  • Maintain accountability for instruments, supplies, and sharps throughout the procedure.
  • Handle specimens, ensuring proper placement and labeling in conjunction with the RN caring for the patient.
  • Complete assignments independently and work as part of a team, taking instructions from supervisors, exercising problem-solving skills, and interacting with co-workers, supervisors, patients, vendors, and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Understand and utilize infection control standards related to disposable and non-disposable equipment, incorporating patient safety in all areas of technical practice, including transporting patients to and from the department.
  • Provide specialized care to patients, as delegated by a licensed practitioner, and communicate changes in patient condition to the physician or licensed practitioner.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months GI experience required.
  • Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility, and department/unit, which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
