Materials Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Materials Management Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our Regional Administrative Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe management of materials, equipment, and supplies throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the receipt, inspection, and delivery of packages and materials to HHS offices throughout the region.
- Process and distribute document service/copy requests, mail, and packages to various HHS office locations.
- Drive and inspect state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pick up large items, including furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform minor vehicle repairs and maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records.
- Oversee and direct activities of contractors and vendors for moves and modular furniture installation.
- Assist with office moves, complete minor building repairs, and perform routine maintenance.
- Utilize the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system to receive and document completion of assignments.
- Utilize the CAPPS Financial module for documenting receipt of purchased items delivered to the warehouse or mailroom.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, including safe cargo loading and unloading methods.
- Knowledge of State and Federal traffic rules and regulations for cargo and mail delivery.
- Knowledge of warehousing procedures, including safe use of motorized equipment for moving and securing materials.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles, including panel trucks and cargo vans, with or without a trailer.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and prepare accurate records documenting vehicle maintenance, mileage, and usage.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment, such as a postage meter, copier equipment, bindery equipment, or similar.
- Ability to understand and utilize documentation systems, such as CAPPS and CAFM.
- Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform basic building maintenance or repair, such as painting, caulking, changing light bulbs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions for completing tasks and assembling basic items.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, peers, and managers.
Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various HHS office locations throughout the region. The successful candidate will be required to work extended hours and in a variety of environments, both inside and outside.
