Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Materials Management Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our Regional Administrative Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe management of materials, equipment, and supplies throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the receipt, inspection, and delivery of packages and materials to HHS offices throughout the region.
  2. Process and distribute document service/copy requests, mail, and packages to various HHS office locations.
  3. Drive and inspect state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pick up large items, including furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  4. Perform minor vehicle repairs and maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records.
  5. Oversee and direct activities of contractors and vendors for moves and modular furniture installation.
  6. Assist with office moves, complete minor building repairs, and perform routine maintenance.
  7. Utilize the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system to receive and document completion of assignments.
  8. Utilize the CAPPS Financial module for documenting receipt of purchased items delivered to the warehouse or mailroom.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, including safe cargo loading and unloading methods.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal traffic rules and regulations for cargo and mail delivery.
  • Knowledge of warehousing procedures, including safe use of motorized equipment for moving and securing materials.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, including panel trucks and cargo vans, with or without a trailer.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and prepare accurate records documenting vehicle maintenance, mileage, and usage.
  • Ability to operate specialized equipment, such as a postage meter, copier equipment, bindery equipment, or similar.
  • Ability to understand and utilize documentation systems, such as CAPPS and CAFM.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform basic building maintenance or repair, such as painting, caulking, changing light bulbs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions for completing tasks and assembling basic items.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, peers, and managers.

Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various HHS office locations throughout the region. The successful candidate will be required to work extended hours and in a variety of environments, both inside and outside.
